The McCartney family lived in the heart of the mining district in the north east of England and although Beryl's local mine,
Boldon Colliery, closed down in the 1970s, the band still plays. Beryl painted the picture to celebrate the tradition.
Beryl was once asked if she used computer graphics to create the brass band to which she replied, "How on earth would
you do that?" They are all meticulously hand drawn and painted.
